All of our cardiologists are board-certified and have extensive experience in multiple modalities of cardiovascular care.

Our range of services include preventative care such as therapy for hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus, smoking cessation, and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). We also provide diagnostic and therapeutic interventions including Echocardiography, Stress Testing, Nuclear Imaging, Vascular Ultrasonography, and Endovenous Laser Therapy.

Ziad Abbud, MD, FACC

Dr. Abbud received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. He completed his Internal Medicine internship at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore, MD and his Internal Medicine residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. He then completed a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, a fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (where he served as the Chief Cardiology Fellow), and a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the University of Toronto.

In 2002, Dr. Ziad Abbud founded the American Heart Center PC, which has grown to be one of the most successful and respected medical practices in New Jersey.

Dr. Abbud is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology. He is also certified in RPVI through the APCA. Dr. Abbud is proud to be appointed a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at UMDNJ, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. During his career, he has been selected to be the Medical Director for the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Bayshore Community Hospital as well as the Angioplasty program at Jersey Shore University Hospital and Riverview Medical Center. He has served as the Co-Chair for the cardiovascular research program at the Meridian Health System Cardiovascular Steering Committee. He is a principal investigator in multiple clinical trials and has published multiple papers in well-respected medical journals over the years, and he is a nationally recognized lecturer in the field of Cardiovascular Disease.

Beverly Demchuk, MD, FACC

A native of Canada, Dr. Demchuk received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. She completed her internship at St. Mary’s Hospital in Montreal. She then returned to the University of British Columbia to complete her Internal Medicine residency followed by a Geriatric residency and a Cardiology residency. She completed an Interventional Cardiology fellowship at Toronto Hospital.

Dr. Demchuk relocated to the United States in 1999 where she practiced with the Tucson Heart Group in Tucson, AZ and the New Mexico Heart Institute in Santa Fe, NM. Dr. Demchuk joined the American Heart Center in 2005 where she specializes in Interventional Cardiology.

She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Laith Zamel, MD

Board certified in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Disease, and Internal Medicine, Dr. Zamel was honored to be a Chief Resident at Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he completed his Internal Medicine residency. He attended Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson University Medical School for a Cardiology fellowship and became Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease in 2016. He then completed an Interventional Cardiology fellowship in 2017 and joined the American Heart Center PC.

Dr. Zamel participated in multiple clinical studies, abstracts, and publications during his residency and fellowship.

David Zagha, MD

Dr. Zagha received his undergraduate degree from Yale University. He initiated his medical training at New York University where he completed medical school and Internal Medicine residency. He continued his training in general cardiology at Mount Sinai Hospital, where he had the privilege to serve as the chief fellow. Dr. Zagha completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at New York University. A local native, Dr. Zagha returned to the Jersey Shore to join American Heart Center in 2019.

Board certified in: Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, Adult Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Vascular Interpretation.

Stacey Musto, MSN, RN, APN-C

Stacey Musto received her Bachelor of Science degree with honors at Seton Hall University and subsequently worked in a cardiovascular intensive care unit as an RN for over 12 years. In 2017, she graduated from Rutgers University, earning her Master of Science Degree as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She joined the American Heart Center PC in the fall of 2017 as a Board Certified Advanced Nurse Practitioner managing patients in the office.

Stacey is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Nicole Schumacher, MSN, RN, APN-C

Nicole received her Bachelor of Science degree from Stevenson University in Maryland. She worked as a registered nurse for 6 years in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at University of Maryland Medical Center as well as Jersey Shore University Medical Center. In May 2021, Nicole graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Monmouth University. She is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner through The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She joined American Heart Center PC in the fall of 2021 where she manages patients in the office and hospital setting.
